About Between You & me
We began Between you & me in 2021,
from a shared aesthetic and a gladness in working collaboratively.
Gary is a master craftsman, developing his skills working with metal for over 40 years, starting with a jewellery apprenticeship at the age of 16.
Anita has a background in animation and puppetry, and has been writing and drawing for decades.
Every day we use serving tools which have worked the same way for millenia.
Tools that are solid in the hand, and perform only one or two functions.
It’s easy to forget the solace and value of these tools.
And the simple pleasure in using them.
We were drawn to combining these valued, solid tools, with the ornamental quality of jewellery.
To ‘dress the table’.
For the thrill of detail.
For the enjoyment that comes from going beyond utility.
Serving can be beautiful.
This is a kind of pleasure that seems important, especially at the moment.
