The story of the Maestro picks

Deceptively simple: from icecream stick to Maestro pick.

Gary's grandfather manufactured wooden ice cream sticks from Radiata pine in Mt Gambier, South Australia, beginning in the 1950's. He recalls visiting the factory as a child. The curved end has long been a theme in his jewellery work. A beautiful circular curve transforms a stick into a serving piece.

Maestro is a set of ten handcrafted stainless steel picks

designed to bring refinement to small servings. Sleek, balanced, and expressive, each pick is hand formed and individually engraved with the studio’s mark.

Made by artisans at Between You and Me, the picks are crafted using traditional techniques more commonly associated with fine objects than everyday tools. At 85 mm long, they are deliberately compact, with a subtle uplift at the end that feels elegant in the hand and allows the pick to catch the light when displayed.

Maestro picks can be used as cocktail picks, for olives and garnishes, or anywhere a wooden toothpick might traditionally appear. Their stainless steel construction makes them endlessly reusable—created to replace the disposable with something permanent and considered.

When not in use, the picks become objects of visual pleasure. They can be arranged in ordered rows, loose clusters, or radial patterns, turning preparation into part of the ritual. Smooth to touch and satisfying to handle, they were designed as jewellery for the table.

Presented gift boxed and made in small batches, Maestro is a refined addition to the table or bar.
